AmorePacific: AGE CORRECTING FOUNDATION CUSHION BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 25 Review

AmorePacific: AmorePacific: AGE CORRECTING FOUNDATION CUSHION Broad Spectrum SPF 25

AmorePacific cushion compacts caught my eye because they blend skincare, sunscreen and liquid foundation into one great formula. I have loved the idea of cushion compacts for their portability, ease of application, and lightweight coverage.  However, as a Latina I have struggled with finding shades designed for darker skin tones in the Asian beauty world (and also American department stores!)

Purchasing Tips

My favorite way to test foundations is with the help of Nordstrom beauty stylists. It’s a free service that lets you explore the full range of beauty products the store carries while guided by the most seasoned and knowledgeable associates on staff. I headed to my local Nordstrom to check out the newest addition to AmorePacific foundation line, the Age Correcting Foundation Cushion Broad Spectrum SPF 25.

I was excited that this new line improves upon the original formula and adds anti-aging and anti-inflammatory to the ingredient line-up. My beauty stylist color matched me with the light medium shade with yellow undertones (#204) which was the best choice for me of the 5 possible shades. If I had bought online I would have tried the medium shade, but when tested in real life it was far too orange for my skin tone. The #204 shade is a bit light for me during the summer, but when mixed with bronzer it truly looks like my skin, but better. I am disappointed that even Korea’s biggest cosmetic manufacturer isn’t supplying the shades women of color need.

Performance

The foundation is packaged in a simple and gorgeous gold compact. It is bulkier than traditional powder compacts, and the applicator sponge is housed separately from the foundation cushion.

The product itself is both aesthetically stunning and feels luxurious on the skin. Honestly, this is the best cushion compact I have ever tried. The formula offers buildable coverage and has a lightweight consistency that make it the perfect option for everyday wear.

I love that the formula not only gives you a flawless appearance, but actually works to
improve the look and feel of my skin. It’s been really hard to find a foundation that works in harmony with my oily, acne-prone skin, but this cushion compact has been a total game changer for me. I absolutely love how seamlessly the foundation blends into the skin and lets my skin breathe. Overall, the foundation performs like a dream.

Ingredients

For most cosmetics the first five ingredients listed on the panel are the ones with the highest percentage allocation in the formula.  Thus, the beginning of the ingredients listing will have the greatest impact on the skin and the rest are more or less fluff. Here is a rundown of the top 5 for this cushion compact.

CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF WATER– This is first ingredient in this formula and is commonly  known as green tea extract. This ingredient which works as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and moisturizing agent.
TITANIUM DIOXIDE – A physical UV blocker that protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that cause skin aging.
BUTYLENE GLYCOL-This ingredient helps the product become more resistant to humidity
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE-This works as an emollient and helps the formula spread more easily.
METHYL TRIMETHICONE-A silicone oil used to even to out skin texture and prime skin.

Value

A major downside I have to mention in this review is the cost. It’s $80 for a 1.05 oz product. Ridiculously over-priced in my opinion. I will buy this again because it offers superior performance and high quality ingredients, but I’m still on the lookout for a more affordable dupe.
